Inspired by decorative fragments from ancient Roman ceiling paintings at Villa Adriana in Tivoli. Created in partnership with Leah Lane as part of our Mulberry House collection, this border distils the language of classical ornament into a refined, repeating frieze. Stylised palmettes and small rosettes form a gentle flowing line and are a great way to bring a quiet decorative note to a room.

Notes: This border has been inspired by a detail from an artwork in the collections of the British Museum. Reconstruction of an ancient Roman ceiling painting at Villa Adriana in Tivoli, with a man and four horses in the centre, and grotesque motifs and figures around it, 1776-1778, print made by Marco Carloni, Italian, etching and watercolours British Museum 1847,0417.10
