Each roll contains four panels, each 52cm wide × 280cm high. The panels are hung in sequence to create a continuous repeat across the wall.Birds drift quietly across a soft, parchment-toned ground, forming a gentle, repeating pattern across the wall.
Inspired by an early 18th-century design by Claude Gillot, held in the British Museum, Birds at Play draws on delicate linework, ornamental foliage and drifting birds. Created in collaboration with Mulberry House, the design reworks these archival elements into a softer, more painterly composition bringing a sense of quiet movement and historic depth to a room.
Notes: This wallpaper has been inspired by a detail from an artwork in the collections of the British Museum. Design for a ceiling with arabesque ornament comprising scrolling elements and various animals, 1688-1722, watercolour and bodycolour, heightened with gold, by Claude Gillot, French, British Museum 1932,0613.1, funded by H L Florence Fund.
